While folks who work in the field of Internet Marketing love how much freedom and variety it offers it is still a fact that most of the people who do not work here are more likely to look at it with intensely critical eyes. There are many rumors and misconceptions out there about IM and also the whole internet. While folks who work in the industry know how reliable and fulfilling it can be at the same time, it poses a problem: do you want to be judged for it in your regular life? Lots of individuals who make money online do so using a pseudonym. They utilize fake names because they prefer to keep their Internet Marketing work apart from the rest that they do, particularly when they only do the work part time. Lots of completely new and part time entrepreneurs are anxious that their friends and employers will find out that they are making money online. Of course, in case you dont care about that type of thing, it still remains a question: should you use a pseudonym for your online business? There are lots of advantages associated with using pseudonyms. The most significant benefit, not surprisingly, is being able to make an identity separate from your personal life and making it easier to keep the two from running into them. If you perform in a specifically rigid or judgemental arena offline it is probably very important that you keep all of your internet activities away from their eyes and using a pseudonym will help you protect yourself from that. IMers are also more likely to use pseudonyms when they wish to sell products in different niches. This is the way they are able to create expert identities in different niches while building credible businesses without their having to worry about seeming like a dabbler. You don't have to fear of someone saying "but what about the conflicting market that you are also selling in?" because you'll be doing that selling under a different name? Sadly, however, one of the greater reasons that individuals do IM business under a pseudonym is that they are trying to evade the responsibilities that come with running a business, like paying taxes. They seem to assume that if they do not do business under their legal names then they do not have to report any of the money that they earn to the IRS. Do not fall for this kind of logic. Even if you do business under another name the income will still be considered income and you'll be held responsible for it. Further, the IRS will probably uncover what you are doing and cheaters are always found out. It's absolutely your choice whether you employ a pseudonym for your online activities. For lots of people it is simply easier to have one name for their offline life and another for their on the internet life. Others, however, think that using just one single name makes your life much easier because there are fewer things to remember.
